At McCain, we believe that everyone can enjoy our products as part of a healthy, balanced diet. Helping you do this is important to us. So, for example, our new Rustic Oven Chips contain only 3% fat, less than 1% saturated fat and score an impressive four green traffic lights for health. What’s more, we leave the skins on so you get more taste and more of the natural goodness of the potato.

Did you know that McCain oven chips contain just 2 ingredients? That’s what we mean by good, simple food.

We work very hard across all our products to reduce things like saturated fat and salt. For example, we’ve reduced salt in our foods by 18% and saturated fat by over 70% in the last 6 years.

We’re also very proud to be one of the first UK manufacturers to introduce traffic light labelling to our packs. We know our customers are busy people, and want a quick, straightforward way to check the nutritional value of what they’re feeding their families.

With £5 million of sponsorship over the next five years, McCain is supporting UK Athletics from grass roots to championship level. We’re Principal Partner to Team GB and NI as well as Title Sponsor of the Young Athletes League and UK Challenge Series.

We’re also running McCain Track and Field: an annual series of events designed to get more British people interested in taking part in athletics. Track & Field is open to everybody – so even if you've never taken part in a race in your life, you’ll be encouraged to have a go.

As Sally Gunnell, who hosts the Track & Field Days says, “As a busy mum with three growing boys, I know all about the pressures that parents face in getting their families to eat a healthy balanced diet and get active. I’m delighted that McCain has joined forces with UKA to help support them and encourage everyone to get into the sport I love."

It seems that almost every month, there’s a story in the newspapers about kids having no idea where their food comes from.

To help, we’ve devised The Potato Story, a non-branded educational initiative for 7-11 year olds. Using an old London Routemaster bus, it demonstrates the journey of a potato from field to fork.

By following through from the farmer on the top deck, planting and harvesting potatoes to the chef on the bottom deck in the kitchen, it gives children a real understanding of the humble potato!. What’s more, it’s all supported by an interactive, educational website aligned to the national curriculum.

As a responsible food manufacturer and family company, McCain aims no marketing activity directly at children.

The 300 plus British farmers who grow our potatoes aren’t just ‘suppliers’: they’re people we know and trust – sometimes for three generations. We work closely with them to ensure the finest possible crop, supplying them with the best seed potatoes and giving them lots of help along the way.

Every batch of potatoes delivered to McCain comes with its own passport – allowing us to track exactly when they were harvested, which farmer grew them for us, and even which field they were grown in. That protects us, it protects the farmer – and most importantly, it protects you.

Here at McCain, We help our family of farmers in a number of ways: supporting grower groups so they can share machinery and know-how. Interest-free loans are available to provide much-needed investment. This all helps our farmers deliver great UK produce for you.

When you see the Red Tractor logo on our packs, that’s your assurance that our chips are made from 100% British Potatoes grown to the highest standards.

As a long-standing, family company and major employer in the UK we use products and services from many people as well as our farmers. But the principles of our partnerships with our suppliers are exactly the same. We make sure we know exactly where everything comes from and how it was made, so we can be sure it is socially and ethically sourced.

It’s important to us to keep up the standards that have made us the UK’s favourite chip manufacturer. So if you’re not entirely satisfied with any of our products, or even if you’d like to share any thoughts or suggestions with us, we’d love to hear what you think.
