How we ran into success in Scarborough

This October - as part of our continuing role as a principal partner of UK Athletics, and to support our 2009 Track and Field Road Shows - we launched our first Scarborough 10k Run. What a success! With over 966 entries for the 10k leg, 333 for the 5k Fun Run, and over 2000 supporters cheering everyone on, we couldn't have asked for a healthier turnout.

More than 14 schools and 20 local businesses took part, showing real community spirit. Plus, Olympic heroes Sally Gunnel and Iwan Thomas were also at hand, passing on a few tips.

Everyone who participated was a star, but one young lad in particular stood out as a potential future Olympian. 13 year-old Benedict Millson was talent spotted at the event and has since been selected by McCain to earn sponsorship and trial athletics at his local club.

Bring on next year we say, and thanks to everyone who took part!
